Janet M. Bercute, age 66, of Penns Grove, NJ and formerly of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
Janet was born in Wilmington, DE and was raised in Elsmere, DE. She is the daughter of the late Doris (Stewart) and James Evans.
Janet spent the majority of her working years at EcRecon, Pedricktown, NJ, where she and her husband grew their business. Janet happily retired so that she could enjoy her grandchildren and so that her and Mike could spend time relaxing together. Janet also served as a Council Woman in Penns Grove, NJ where she was the head of the Parks & Recreation committee.
Janet was a former member of Christ United Methodist Church in Elsmere.
Her most cherished memories were spending time with her daughters and her family at Ocean City, Md. She also loved traveling with her husband. Some of their favorite places to visit were New York City, St. Michaels, MD and Cape May, NJ. Janet also enjoyed gardening, antiquing, and caring for animals.
Janet is survived by her husband of 30 years, Michael Bercute; her daughters, Sophia Sansone and her husband Nick (Nicholas, Matthew & Tyler) and L. Rebecca “Becky” DiLisciandro and her husband Mario (Chloe, Luciano & Giovanni); her step-children, Andrea Damman and her husband Paul (Hannah, Julia & Michaela), Nick Bercute and his wife Lisa (Hailey, Hunter & Cayden) and Tom Bercute and his wife Jaime (Zane, Silas & Elsa); her sister, Shirley Walraven and numerous other family members.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 30 from 9:00 to 10:30 am with a service at 10:30am at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial to follow at Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.
