Barbara Lynne Przywara, 74, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on March 12, 2024.
Barbara was a graduate of P.S. duPont High School, in Wilmington DE. She worked in childcare for over forty years, “Miss Barbara” worked at Grace Preschool in Greenville, DE, St. Elizabeth’s Daycare, and Elsmere Presbyterian Childcare. She loved seeing former parents and hearing updates about “her” kids. Barbara was a long-time parishioner of Richardson Park United Methodist Church.
Spending time with her family was important to her. Her great-grandchildren enjoyed sitting on her lap so she could read story after story. She enjoyed attending school concerts, sporting events, and practices for her grandchildren. She enjoyed trips to the beach, vacationing with family, camping at the beach or in the mountains, shopping, and family gatherings.
Barbara joined the Red Hat Society many years ago, she enjoyed the activities, trips, and dinners but she loved the time spent with her friends. She brought her Red Hat Blanket to the hospital, it was a conversation piece, she shared her fun stories and talked about her friends every day. Barbara had many life-long friendships, and she treasured each one. She felt blessed to have so many wonderful friends in her life. Barbara is survived by her two daughters. Kirsten Opalach (Dave) and Amy Przywara. Four grandchildren: Cameron Przywara (Stephanie Knapp), Andrew and Ryan Opalach, and Iris Kenny. Three great-grandchildren: Atlas, Evelyn, and Orion. Her sister Patsy Pawley and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was born in Wilmington DE, the daughter of the late Charles (Pitsy) and Ione (Truitt) Parsons. She is predeceased by her husband Edward F. Przywara, 2021, and sisters Sandra Robinson, Joan Shorter, Lenore Huffer, and Mary (Bettie) Bozzi.
