White, David "Pinky"

David H. “Pinky” White went home to the Lord surrounded by his family on March 11, 2024.

David grew up in Aston, PA and attended Sun Valley High School, Class of 1967. He played baseball, basketball, ran track, and won many dancing competitions in his youth. He attended a Sunship apprenticeship and received his journeyman’s papers for blueprint draftsmen. After, David worked as a pipefitter for the Dupont Company and retired in 1997 as a supervisor at the Edgemoor Plant.

David enjoyed being a Sunday school teacher, coaching Claymont girls’ softball, MG cars, Christmas, time at the beach, traveling, boating, golfing and skiing. He was a huge fan of Westerns and his idol was John Wayne. He was a talented craftsman and chess player. David was very involved with social groups in the area. He was extremely proud of being a 32nd Degree Mason and enjoyed his time spent amongst his friends. David will be remembered as having a “child-like spirit” and for his enjoyment of the finer things in life.

David was predeceased by his mother, Ruth Holmes Haines; father, George F. White, Jr.; and brother, George F. “Skip” White III. He is survived by his two daughters, Tammy White and Kelly Cohen (Matthew); his grandchildren, George F. “Ricky” Smith IV and Sarah Lynn Smith of Wilmington, DE.
