Mary Ann Oakes of Newark, DE passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 6, 2024. She was a long-time employee of Principal Trust Company. She most loved spending time with her family and friends and especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed shopping and meeting with her friends to play pinochle and other games.
She was preceded by her Mother Mary Domino (DiMattia), father Anthony Domino, Sr, brothers Anthony Domino Jr. Frank Domino and her grandson, Joshua Oakes. She is survived by her daughter Deborah McCartney and her husband Leonard McCartney, Jr, son Robert Oakes, Jr and his wife MaryJane, her son Jason Oakes and his fiancé Alison Herbert, her sister Antoinette Lutz, sister-in-law Beverly Domino, her grandchildren Cristen McCartney, Lauren McCartney, Abby Oakes, Jacob Oakes, Jeremy Oakes, Jaydin Oakes, Matthew Oakes, David Oakes, Amy Henzes, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Mary Ann believed there are two types of people in this world, givers and takers. She was a giver. If she saw a need she filled the need. Her favorite saying was but for the grace of God, there go I. She was loved by so many and will be deeply missed.
A visitation will be held on Thursday March 14, 2024 at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington Delaware 19808 from 10:00 – 11:00 am where a memorial service will take place at 11 o’clock, followed by the burial at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
