Parker, Sharon Lane

Sharon Lane Parker, age 93, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on March 2, 2024. She was born in Miami, FL, and raised in West Palm Beach and Coral Gables. Sharon was the daughter of the late Gertrude R. (Will) and Harold L. Lane. She graduated from Palm Beach High School in 1948. Sharon then received two bachelor’s degrees in Music and Music Theory from Florida State University.

Sharon met the love of her life, Stuart Henry Parker, on a blind date. They were engaged three dates later. After living in Boston, MA; Pasadena, CA; Yorkshire, England; and West Palm Beach, FL, they moved to Delaware where Stuart had a career with the DuPont Company.

Sharon loved music, but more than that, she loved teaching music. She taught piano for over 50 years, including the week before her death. She was immensely proud of her students, celebrating their progress and encouraging their growth.

She was an active member and past president of the Delaware State Music Teachers Association. Sharon was also a long-time member of Calvary Episcopal Church-Hillcrest.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles and word games. She was always quick with the answer for Final Jeopardy.

Her husband of 55 years, Stuart H. Parker, died in 2010. Sharon is survived by her 4 children, Michael (Ruby), Dorothy Bobo (Edward Lennon), Matthew, and Richard (Patti); her 3 grandchildren, Andrew, Mariah (Stefan Tuomanen Masure), and Julia Parker; 3 step grandsons: Jason (Mary), Michael (Rebecca), and Robert Lennon; 4 great-grandchildren, Robert Bobo IV, Julián Rios, and their mother, Elysse Epperson, and Wendy and Khloe Lennon. Sharon is also survived by her large and loving Lennon family. Sharon was preceded in death by two of her grandsons, Kevin Parker and Robert Bobo III.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 20 from 10-11 am at Calvary Episcopal Church-Hillcrest, 304 Lore Ave, Wilmington, DE 19809, where a memorial service will follow at 11 am. Burial will be held privately.
