Margaret Ann Costello (Richards) died in Jacksonville Florida on August 20, 2023 after a brief illness. She was 66 years old.
Called “Peggie” by her family, she was known as “Megan” to her friends in her adult life. She was born in San Francisco, California on February 14th 1957 and lived in Wilmington, Delaware through most of her childhood and her teen years.
Peggie was predeceased by her parents, Edward Joseph (Joe) Costello and Rosemary (Donoghue) Costello. She is survived by siblings, Kathleen Jost (Frank) of Wilmington, Rosemary McGee (John) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Maureen Ford (Hip) of Wilmington, and Patrick Costello (Sally) of Napa, California as well as nephews, nieces, grandnieces and a grandnephew. Peggie graduated from St. Mark’s High School in Wilmington and she attended Temple University. Peggie lived in various locales in her adult life; Oregon, California, Georgia, and finally Florida where she could be close to her beloved ocean. She worked in health care and the hospitality business but her main passion was arts and crafts. She made beautiful jewelry that she sold at craft fairs in her later decades of life. Peggie’s journey through life was not always an easy one. She suffered from physical ailments since early childhood and, at times, as an adult struggled with pain and accompanying addictions like so many. Wherever she landed, however, Peggie was able to make friends and build a caring community around her. Now at peace, she will be missed.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 16th at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Catholic Church, 10 Old Church Road in Greenville, Delaware. Family visitation starts at 10am. Burial will be the St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery.
