Edward G. Punte, Jr., age 95, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2024.
Born to the late Edward and Margaret (nee McKenna) Punte, Edward graduated from Wilmington High and St. Joseph’s University. He retired from Wilmington Trust, as a vice president, and then worked for the Port of Wilmington. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Ann’s Church where he kept the books and also served as Scout Master of the Boy Scouts for more than 25 years. Ed was a model train aficionado and enjoyed genealogy. He traveled to Europe and was able to trace the family’s roots to the sixteenth century.
In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his brother John. He is survived by his sisters Margaret M. Erner and Elizabeth A. DelCollo as well as many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 10-11 am at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am at St. Ann Catholic Church, 2013 Gilpin Ave., Wilmington, DE 19806. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Ann’s Church or the Boy Scouts.
