Esther R. Weldin, age 100 of Hockessin, DE passed away peacefully at the Regal Heights Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, January 25, 2024.
She was born and raised in Wilmington, DE and is the daughter to the late Elva (Hopkins) and Paul Weldin, Sr. Esther graduated from Wilmington High School in 1941.During WWII, Ester worked at Dravo Corporation on the Wilmington waterfront where they constructing Destroyer escorts. She proudly enlisted in the United States Navy where she was a WAVE and Seaman First Class. After being honorably discharged Esther worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield where she eventually retired from.
She faithfully read her Bible every day.
She is survived by her nephew, David Menard (Debbie); nieces, Melanie Mandroc (Tim) and Debbie Hufnell (Bill) and several great nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by her 3 younger siblings, Phyllis Menard, Paul Weldin, Jr. and Elva Massiello.
Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Atterbury VFW Post, 649 Churchmans Rd, Newark, DE 19702.
