Osborn, Sue Ellen

Sue Ellen Osborn, 72, of Wilmington passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. She was born on February 7,1951 in Lewes, Delaware. Sue graduated from Wesley College in 1971 with an Associates Degree and continued her education at the University of Delaware graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education in 1973. Education was the perfect career for her, spending 2 years at Charles B. Lore Elementary School and 32 years teaching first grade at Evan G. Shortlidge Academy in Wilmington. January 21, 1978,

Sue married Lawrence (Larry) Osborn and her father Reverend Dr. Donzel C. Wildey officiated the marriage at the Peninsula-McCabe United Methodist Church. Sue became very active in the church teaching Sunday School for children and adults. Also she was a Trustee and Treasurer for the church. Sue worked with her mother in PEO, an organization of women helping women advance through education, raising money for scholarships. She was the past President of the Local Chapter B in Delaware.

Sue was preceded in death by her father Reverend Dr. Donzel C. Wildey, her mother Ellen E. Wildey and her Brother Donzel C. (Clay) Wildey, Jr.

She is survived by her husband Larry Osborn; brother Paul L. Wildey (Mary Lynch his wife) of Middletown, DE., her niece Laura M. Kearse (Richard) of Reston, VA, and her nephews Ryan D. Wildey of Reston, VA, Michael Wildey (Tricia) and their children Ross and Rachel of Owings Mills, MD, Ian Wildey (Amy) and their 3 Sons, Spencer, Charlie & Henry of Devon, PA, and David Wildey (Brandi Lynn) and daughter Leah . Also left to cherish her memory are numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 on Saturday January 27th with visitation at 2:00PM and service at 3:00PM. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Sue’s memory to PEO, 48 Paschall Rd., Wilmington, DE 19803, Attention: Charlot Sanders-Treasure
