Tobin, Beverly E.

Beverley Ellyn Tobin, age 95, of North Wilmington went home to be with the Lord Friday, January 12, 2024. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Beverley Ellyn Tobin was born on June 13, 1928 to Mabel and Earl Bennett. She was one out of three siblings in which all preceded her in death: Earl Bennett (Carolyn) and Wesley Bennett (Dorthy “Dottie”).

At the age of 19, Beverley married her sweetheart, James “Bud” Tobin on June 14, 1947 at Eastlake United Methodist Church. Beverley and Bud met on the Wilson Line Boat after Bud’s honorable discharge from the Navy. On June 14, 2009 they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. They had two wonderful son’s and conquered life’s hurdles together. They had two grandchildren in which they loved spending time with. In their spare time they loved to meet with friends at the Concord Mall telling stories of life’s events and memories.

When her sons were young, Beverley worked for Sears and later in life in the cafeteria at Concord High School. As far as hobbies, she enjoyed getting together with friends to do ceramics which decorated her home and were given as gifts. She had a collection of antique dolls and teddy bears in which she enjoyed and kept them in a glass case that her husband built for her. She loved reading thriller books; her favorite author was Danielle Steele. She kept her very own library of favorite books for rainy days. She enjoyed her trips to the mall and the farmers market on Fridays. She had a love for cake and sweets.

She is survived by son, James A. Tobin III (Jim) and his wife, Margaret, of Maryland; a step grandson, Eric; her youngest son, Lawrence E. (Toby) Tobin and his wife, Michelle, of Townsend DE; and her grandchildren, Tristan Tobin of Townsend, DE and Kaitlin and John McDaniel of Smyrna DE.

Services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19 at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3710 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE 19808). Friends may call beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Lawn Croft Cemetery will follow.
