Florence L. Seney, age 97, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Sunday January 14, 2024, at Christiana Care—Wilmington Hospital surrounded by the love of her family.
Florence was the daughter of the late Richard and Eva Lenox, she was born in Jamaica, NY on January 2, 1927. The family moved to Wilmington, DE when she was 2 years old where she attended public school. In 1945 she graduated from Claymont High School. After high school married the love of her life, William E. Seney in March 1946. During her life, Florence had several jobs, but was best known for being a caretaker for any member of her family that was in need. She enjoyed playing golf, cooking for her family, baking, especially her annual Christmas cookies, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Eastern Star Ruth Chapter #19.
Florence was preceded in death by her brother Richard in May 2006, late husband, William E. Seney, in June 2008 and her sister Gertrude in February 2019. Florence is survived by her daughters Dorothy Walker (Bob) of Wilmington, DE; Diane Koehler (Mike) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren Leigh Cohen (Steve) of Atlanta, GA; Kimberly Walker (Guy) of Wilmington, DE; Robyn Bascelli (Zack) of Garnet Valley, PA; and William Koehler (Blyth) of Atlanta, GA, and 6 great grandchildren Zack, Kaitlyn, Eva, Grace, Wes, and Liam, three grand dogs Bentley, Tucker and Rooney and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations in Florence’s honor be sent to Christiana Care—Accent Care’s Wilmington Campus or to Faithful Friends
Funeral services will be private.
