Parsons, Keith

Keith David Parsons, 65, of Fort Collins, CO, formerly of Wilmington, DE and Kennett Square, PA, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2024.

The son of the late Joan (Douglas) and Bernard L. Parsons, Keith was born on September 26, 1958, in Wilmington, DE.

Keith earned a carpentry certificate from Delcastle Technical High School in 1976, and subsequently earned his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Delaware in 1985.

In 2006 Keith left his Executive Vice President position at DEXSTA Federal Credit Union in Wilmington to pursue business ownership, combining his extensive handyman, construction, finance, and management knowledge and skills. Keith owned and operated Mr. Handyman franchises in New Castle County, DE and Delaware County, PA, and owned and managed multiple rental properties in Wilmington, DE and Chadds Ford, PA areas.

Keith maintained a very good sense of humor. His antics included entertaining those within earshot by keeping unwanted solicitors on the phone for long periods of time and alarming the local veterinarian by informing him of his plans to use his family’s just-neutered 7 lb dog, Goliath, for stud service.

Keith also enjoyed working in the yard and had a knack for creating beautiful outdoor spaces for family and friends to enjoy. His neighbors nicknamed him “Mr. Longwood.”

Keith is survived by three sons (Christopher, Jeffrey, and Tyler); 2 stepchildren (Britton Maitland (Davis), and Daniel Davis), their spouses and children; siblings Linda Sprogell (Parsons) and Lee Parsons and spouses; and 3 nieces and 2 nephews. In addition to his parents, Keith was preceded in death by his nephew, Joel Parsons.

The family will be receiving family and friends on Friday, January 19, from Noon to 1 PM at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. Burial will be private.
