Michael A. Zabinko, age 64, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, January 13, following a courageous battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of Delaware, Mike was born in Wilmington and worked in the commercial construction industry for more than 40 years. A dedicated Philadelphia sports fan, Mike loved the Phillies and Eagles.
Mike was an avid sportsman and conservationist who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time in the outdoors. Mike cherished the time he spent hiking in the wilderness, specifically backpacking in Colorado, and he enjoyed spending summer weekends in Fenwick Island.
Mike will be missed by his loving and devoted wife and caregiver, Amy Marks, as well as his family, who loved and supported him through his cancer battle.
The son of Onufry and Dorothy Zabinko, Mike was predeceased by his father, Onufry Zabinko. He is survived by his wife Amy Marks; his mother, Dorothy Zabinko; his brothers, Leonard (Sharon) and Fr. John (Maggie); his sister, Anna; niece, Stephanie; nephews, Matthew, Joseph, and Timothy; and great-nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 22 at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808). Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
