Charles A. Hedrick, Jr., age 89, of Elsmere, DE passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 11, 2024. He was born and raised in Marshallton, DE and was the son of the late Charles A. Hedrick, Sr. and Ruth C. Miller.
Charles attended Marshallton School. He was a HVAC technician and electrician until he retired in his late 70’s.
He enjoyed playing poker and going to the horse races. Later in life he liked to do daily lottery scratch- offs. Charles favorite holiday was Christmas and he made sure his children as well as children of family and friends had presents under the tree. Most of all he enjoyed sitting on the stoop and catching up with neighbors.
Charles is survived by his daughters, Karen Gilbert, Linda Beaver and her husband Ronald, and Michelle August; grandchildren, Rhonda, Heather, Erin (Jeremy), Mark (Daria), Sabrina (Dan) and Barbara (Willis); and eight great-grandchildren, Jordan, Shayna, Grant, Braylon, Logan, Jackson, Benjamin and Bentley. He is also survived by his brother, John Hedrick. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Doris M. Hedrick. He is also preceded in death by four of his siblings, Donald Hedrick, Thomas Hedrick, Bill Hedrick and Savilla Campbell.
A private graveside burial is planned.
