Donald Lee Squibb passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 30, 2023. He was born in Stanton, DE, where he spent most of his life. He was 88 years old. Don graduated from Conrad High School. He spent 4 years with the Army National Guard and worked several jobs before becoming an Operating Engineer.
He spent 60 years with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 542. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Moose International. After retirement, he became an avid Mall Walker and had many wonderful times with his Mall friends. He loved fixing things and was good at it. He loved the beach, watching the Phillies and Eagles play, and watching his favorite shows on TV. Don was a lifelong member of St. Mark’s UMC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Carrie Squibb, a brother, Atwood, a sister, Florence Hill and his first wife, Dorothy J. Squibb. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara C. Squibb, sister, Joyce Johnston, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Don was a joy to be with and we will all miss his laughter, sense of humor, humming, and the unforgettable times we spent together.
A viewing will begin at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, on January, Saturday, 6, at 11:00 am, followed by the service at 12:00 pm. Burial will be on Tuesday, January 9, at 11:00 am in the Chapel at All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington.
