Dorothy (Holub) Vincent, age 89, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.
She was born and raised in West Wyoming, PA. Dorothy is the daughter of the late, Steffie (Wedra) and John Holub. She graduated from West Wyoming High School in 1951. After high school she was a “waist maker” at MK Dress factory in Wyoming, PA. During this time, Dorothy met the love of her life, Arthur E. Vincent and they married the fall of 1953.
They started a family in Pittston, PA and moved to Delaware in 1956. She devoted her life to her family. When she became a grandmother, she devoted herself to them. After her grandsons started school, Dorothy did office work at Harvey Road Automotive.
She was a very talented woman. She enjoyed arts and crafts, needle point, embordering, cooking and could crochet anything under the sun. Dorothy was a member of Christ Our King Parish where she was a Brownie Leader from 1960 to 1968.
Her husband of 52 years, Arthur E. Vincent died in 2006. She is survived by her daughter, Diane M. Scanlon (Joseph); a grandson, Sean A. (Jordan); 2 great granddaughters, Addie and Scarlett; a sister, Barbara A. Hoover and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy is also preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan J. Scanlon and her siblings John Holub and Margaret Perfinski.
A visitation will be held at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3924 Concord Pk., Wilmington on Friday, January 5 from 6-8p. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4701 Weldin Road, Wilmington on Saturday, January 6 at 11am. Burial will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
