Timothy Samuel Goertz, age 71, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on 12/22/2023.
Tim was born in Jos, Nigeria, January 15, 1952, to Samuel Peter Goertz and Florence Kite Goertz where his parents were missionaries. He graduated from Friends School in Wilmington, Delaware. He had a retail furniture /gift store The Pot-Pouri-Ri 1980-2003. Tim led a Christ-centered life and was one of the Charter members of Brandywine Valley Baptist Church Delaware. His passion was leading others to Jesus, serving, helping others, and encouraging others. He was part of the Stephens Ministry at the church. He was a member of the Monday morning Promise Keepers. He was a worker in the youth group for over 15 years, discipling many teenagers. Tim was a Prayer Warrior keeping in touch with many missionaries, old customers, classmates, and students who he had come in contact with through the years. He had a servant’s heart, always putting others before himself. Eager to help them but especially pray for them. Reminding them that God loved them and wanted a relationship with them.
Surviving him are his wife of 51 years, Esther M Goertz; his son, Rev. Jonathan Goertz and his wife, Erin Cole Goertz; his daughter, Heather Goertz; nieces and nephews, David and Shannon Steele, Daniel and Holley Steele, Sharon and David Schenck, Becky Alderidge, Steve and Jenn Seldomridge, Karen and Ryan Cramer, Jeff Yost, and Jim and Andrea Yost.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Florence Goertz; his stepmother, Burness Goertz; and his sisters, Lois Goertz Steele and Sharon Goertz Seldomridge.
There will be a visitation Saturday 12⁄30 at 10:00 am, Celebration Service at 11:00 am, followed by a luncheon. All will be at Brandywine Valley Church (7 Mt. Lebanon Rd, Wilmington DE 19803).
