Paul W. Simonds, Sr., age 100, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 12, 2023.
He was born and raised in Wilmington, DE and is the son of the late Sara (Powell) and Archibald Simonds. Paul attended Wilmington High School. He proudly serviced his country in the United States 8th Army Air Force during WWII. Paul worked as a mechanic on B-17’s in England. His dedication and commitment to his military association was evident throughout his life.
Most of Paul’s working career was at Brandywine Oil Company. He was a service manager and worked on mainly residential units.
Paul was a long-time member of Peniel United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and visiting the shooting range.
Paul’s wife of 61 years, Annamae (Dashper) Simonds died in 2005. He is survived by his two sons. Paul W. Simonds, Jr. and his wife Lin and Eugene W. Simonds and his fiancé Debbie Snyder; 2 grandsons, Paul W. Simonds III (Kelley) and Erik E. Simonds (Kirby) and 2 great grandchildren, Maggie and Owen Simonds. He is also preceded in death by his sister Sarah Jones.
Services and burial will be held privately.
