Anita Marie Rea (Rusty), 83, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away on November 14, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer.
Anita was born on June 5, 1940 to Michael and Mary Tortorella in Bronx, NY. She was the eldest of four children. She married Vincent Rea in 1960 and shortly after relocated to Wilmington, Delaware where she lovingly raised her two children. Although she moved to Delaware, she never lost her New York roots; especially her accent.
Anita enjoyed making those around her laugh with her witty comments. She enjoyed spending time with family whom she cherished. She loved spending time with her various dogs; most recently Ace who stood by her side during her illness.
Anita was predeceased by her parents; husband, Vincent Rea; and brother, Rocco Tortorella. She is survived by her sister, MaryAnn Tortorella; brother, Michael (Maureen) Tortorella; son, Vincent (Marilyn) Rea; daughter, Anita (William) Nichols; her four grandchildren, Kristopher Rea, Alexander Rea, Nicholas Rea and Lindsay Nichols (Nicholas DiIenno); and her loving dog, Ace. She will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17 at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808). Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Anita’s honor to Humane Animal Partners of Delaware.
