Ashley, Thomas

Thomas R.C. Ashley, 93 of Claymont died on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.

Tom was born on December 11, 1929 in New Castle, Delaware. He met the love of his life, Rose R. Radick in September 1951 and was inducted into the Army in May 1952. Rose and Tom planned a wedding in 3 weeks before Tom went into the Service. Tom served in the Korean Conflict from 1952 – 1954. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Tom and Rose settled in Claymont, Delaware. Tom worked for Delmar Photo for more than 40 years as General Manager. Post retirement, he worked for Rockland Mills for about 20 years. He was affectionately known as the ‘Mayor of Rockland Mills’ during that time.


Tom was a devoted Christian and faithful member at Calvary Assembly of God in Wilmington. Tom lived his Faith and loved his Family. He is survived by Rose, his wife of 71 years and two children, Michael and Rachel (Rich) and was blessed with 5 grandchildren, a set of triplets – Aaron, Ashley and Abbey and twins – Anthony and Austin.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at 10am followed by a funeral service at 11am on Monday, October 30, 2023 at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home at 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, Delaware 19803. Interment will be held privately.
