Loretta “Lorie” McKiernan (née Leiner), age 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Wilmington, Delaware on October 1, 2023.
Lorie was the loving wife of 63 years of John McKiernan, and mother of daughters Lisa, Lori, Stacey, and Amy. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Lorie and John were blessed with a love that few people get to experience.
Lorie was predeceased by her parents Henry R. and Grace L. Leiner, and sister Joann Leiner Burgess.
Lorie was an accomplished artist, and studied in Philadelphia at PAFA and Fleisher. She was an exceptional watercolorist, and participated over the years, in shows and exhibits locally, including the Brandywine Arts Festival, as well as ones in Ocean City, NJ and Avalon. However, her principal interest was the well-being of her family, and for that she will be greatly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, October 6, at noon at the Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810 where friends may call beginning at 11 am. Burial will take place privately.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Lorie’s name to the Delaware Art Museum.
