Peter E. Kress, 76, of Elkton, MD passed away on September 27, 2023.
Peter was a 1965 graduate of Chester High School and went on to what was then known as Pennsylvania Military College. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, having served on the USS Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr.
Peter worked for many years for the DuPont Company as an Environmental Consultant. He was an avid fisherman, loved the Philadelphia Eagles, badminton and tennis.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Margaret (Moran) Kress, his lifelong companion, Sue Reed and his brother in-law Allen Gosnell.
He is survived by his sister Marianne Gosnell, 2 nieces and 1 nephew, Shannon Moore (Matthew), Rocky Gosnell and Tarra Gosnell and 2 great nephews, Ryan and Finnegan Moore and numerous cousins, family and friends that all loved him dearly.
Peter is also survived by his lifelong friends William and Mazie Mattson, and their children, Patrick and his wife Carolyn Mattson and their children, William and Winston, Philip C. Mattson, Matthew and his wife Jenn Mattson and their children, Rylie and Hayden.
Peter’s family would like to thank Caraway Manor in Elkton, MD and Amedisys Hospice for their love and excellent care given to Peter.
A viewing will be held on Saturday October 7 from 9:00 – 10:00 am with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10am at St. Cornelius Church, 160 Ridge Rd. Chadds Ford, PA 19317.
