Helen L. Sproul, 93, of Wilmington, DE died peacefully on September 27, 2023.
Born in Wilmington, Helen attended P.S. duPont High School and Beacoms College. She worked as a secretary prior to the birth of her first child, after which she devoted herself to being a homemaker and active volunteer. She volunteered with the Wilmington Flower Market for decades, was a Girl Scout leader, and a tour guide at Winterthur.
When not volunteering, Helen loved spending her summers in Cape May, NJ, and playing games. She was an excellent bowler and bridge player.
Helen was the last survivor of the ten children in the Longacre family. In addition to her family, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert G. Sproul, Jr. and son, Robert G. Sproul III. She is survived by her daughters, Cindy S. Finnegan (Michael) of Goodyear, AZ, and Jennifer Horton (Michael) of Wilmington, DE; her seven granddaughters, Leigh, Jordan, Carli, Erica, Lindsey, Allie and Bailey; and eight great-grandchildren.
A private memorial will be held at Silverbrook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Concord Presbyterian Church (1800 Fairfax Blvd., Wilmington, DE 19803) or Vitas Healthcare.
