Chilton, Lucille S.

Lucille Chilton died in the early hours of September 14th at the age of 92. She was born in the middle of a New York snowstorm to parents Joseph and Josephine. She is survived by her daughter Paula, son Andrew, two grandchildren, three brothers, multiple nieces and nephews, and her dog Sam.

Lucille was the widow of Dan Chilton, a man she always spoke fondly of. She was a world traveler who had the honor of mingling with prominent people such as Bill Gates and Martha Stewart. She enjoyed playing Rummikub with friends, and taking care of her beloved canine companion Sam. She regularly attended a crochet group, which led her to dabbling with plarn. She continued to make plarn mats for the homeless up until her death. Lucille was an avid gardener. She especially loved tending to orchids. h

One of the things that Lucille is most remembered for is her cooking! Despite being legally blind and hearing impaired for years, she would whip up tantalizing culinary creations for every occasion! Her sharp wit and playful sense of humor will be missed, but her spirit lives on in the recipes that she generously shared with those around her.

A viewing will be held from 10-11am on Thursday September 21st at McCrery and Harra Funerl Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway Wilmington, 19808. A service will follow at 11am. The burial will take place in Ebenezer cemetery followed by a repast.
