Warren, Edith Muriel

Edith Muriel Warren, age 68, Wilmington, DE, formerly of Hockessin DE, peacefully went home to God on September 2, 2023 after a long illness.

Edith was born on February 14, 1955 in West Grove, PA, raised in Corner Ketch, DE and graduated from Newark High School in 1973. She was the daughter of the late, Julie (nee: Jackson) and Cecil E. Warren. Edith served as an Sergeant in the United States Army at Fort Hood Texas and was stationed in Texas until her honorable discharge in 1978. She was proud of her service and respected Veterans and service members for their sacrifices throughout her life. Edith was a warm and wonderful person, beloved by her family and friends, and the many folks she provided caregiving services for many years!

She studied engineering and drafting at Delaware Technical Community College, leaving with four Associate degrees in Electronics-Electrical, Computer-Aided, Architectural and Civil Engineering, and had attended degree classes at Goldey-Beacom University. Over the years she worked for Hewlitt Packard, Avondale, PA as a Printed Circuit Board Assembler, many credit card banks, and others. Twenty years ago, she started a successful resale business and worked as a beloved caregiver to her sick and elderly clients.

Edith was very talented and creative! She authored and published one children’s book, one inspirational book and one book of poetry, she created uplifting posters with her poems and thoughts, and was writing song lyrics in recent years. She also enjoyed antique collecting, cooking, coin collecting, stock trading and studying the bible. Edith was loved for her gentle personality and fun sense of humor. She would help her friends and family whenever she saw a need. It could be prayers, gifts, food, whatever she could to make their lives better. Edith loved playing music with friends, participating in auctions and thrifting, among many other things.
She was a member of Seeds of Greatness church and drew great comfort from the Lord. She was an avid animal lover, caring for many dogs, including fostering and rescued animals.

She will be very missed by everyone whose life she touched.

She is survived by her brother, Edwin M. Warren of Central Falls, RI and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and special friends.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 from 1:30-2:00p.m. at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808 where a memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. A committal service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, September 20 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd, Bear, DE 19701.
