Gregory E. Moore died Thursday, August 17, 2023 at home with his family by his side.
Greg was born on Christmas Day in 1946. Throughout his life people would ask him if he felt cheated. He would always answer “no,” that he considered it special. Greg traveled extensively with his career, including one business trip that took him around the world. However, he would always say his favorite trip was in the summer of 1993 when he took his family to more than a dozen national parks in the western United States. During his varied career, Greg’s favorite job was as the General Manager of the Playhouse Theatre in Wilmington where he produced the first and only profitable year in that business and served as a Tony Award voter for the Broadway awards. He was very proud to have served on the vestry of Trinity Episcopal Parish in Wilmington, including two years as Senior Warden.
Greg is survived by his loving wife Carol whom he met in 1968 while both were attending Purdue University. He and Carol were lifelong Boilermaker fans as well as devoted partners and parents. He was proud of his three children and their unique gifts and accomplishments: Amanda (Tobias) Walter, Carrie, and Robert (Alexis). He considered his three grandchildren the dessert of his life and he was famous for his sweet tooth: Abigail and Andrew Moore, and Luke Walter. He is also survived by his sister Rebecca of Laguna Beach, California and his brother Jerry of Seattle, Washington.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 9 at 1 pm at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1108 N Adams St., Wilmington, DE 19801. The family will receive friends after the service. Interment at Old Swedes will follow the reception.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Greg’s name to Jefferson-Weinberg ALS Center, Vicki and Jack Farber Institute of Neuroscience at Jefferson, 900 Walnut St., 4th Fl., Philadelphia, PA 19107.
