Beth D. Clifton (née Allen), 68, of New Castle, Delaware peacefully passed away on August 9, 2023. Born March 20, 1955, Beth was the beloved daughter of the late James R. Allen, Jr. and D. Louise Allen (née Rhoades).
Beth received her education at William Penn High School, where she laid the foundation for her future endeavors. She dedicated her professional life to the Delaware National Guard, serving as a civilian until her retirement.
Beth was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert M. Allen; and her nephew, Christopher M. Scarmozzi.
She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of almost 43 years, Johnny Clifton; her daughter, Sharon Clifton; and her son, John Clifton. Beth took great joy in her role as grandmother, adoring her granddaughters, Gabrielle Simpson and Dakota Rappa, and great-grandchildren, Kayden, Ella and Tessa. She is also survived by her sister, Sharon (Peter) Scarmozzi; and several nieces and nephews.
A traditional ceremony honoring Beth’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on August 17, 2023, at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington DE 19808). The visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Following services, Beth will be laid to rest at Silverbrook Cemetery, where she will find eternal peace.
Beth’s presence will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will be cherished, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
