Sullivan, Jacqueline T.

Jacqueline T. Sullivan, age 82, expired on August 5, 2023 with dignity and grace after enduring a long illness. She passed peacefully into the light of Lord with her son by her side.

Daughter of the late Arthur J. Heaney and Elizabeth E. Heaney (Marshall), Jackie was born at The Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware. Jackie was educated in the Catholic tradition at Saint Thomas Elementary School in grades K-8, followed by her public education at Wilmington High School in Delaware. After graduation, Jackie began her professional career with The DuPont Company in 1959. Over the next 38 years, her energy, intellect, drive, and talent led to positions of increasing responsibility, supervision, and management. Jackie would retire from DuPont in 1997.

In May of 1965, Jackie would marry the love of her life, Joseph F. Sullivan, Jr. of Carneys Point, New Jersey. Their blessed union would span 52 years, enduring until Joe’s passing in 2017. In 1974, Jackie and Joe would adopt their only child on St. Patrick’s Day, name him Kevin, and forever rejoice in retelling the story of divine intervention that brought them all together as a family. Jackie served as a Cub Scout Den Leader in Pack 480 and worked the concession booths for her son during PGCP Little League games. At the end of a long week, Jackie and Joe enjoyed the camaraderie and friendships formed with members of the Rainbow Mixers, the bowling team that competed each Friday at Penn Bowl in Pennsville during the 1980’s. On most Summer weekends, for almost 40 years, Jackie could be found on or near the beaches of Avalon, New Jersey. Jackie cherished family and excitedly planned events to bring them all together. The annual July 4th Cookout was rarely missed, bringing laughter, burgers, crabs, badminton, and evening fireworks on the beach. Jackie annually hosted Thanksgiving dinner at her home in Carneys Point for almost 45 years, watching young children grow into adults, and one day, bring family of their own. Jackie was an avid fan of Philadelphia sports teams and enjoyed catching an occasional Eagles and Phillies game with her son. Jackie was a devout and practicing Catholic supporting various charitable and humanitarian endeavors across the region.

Jackie was predeceased by her sister Patricia Jackson, her mother Elizabeth E. Heaney, and father Arthur J. Heaney. She is survived by her son Kevin P. Sullivan; her brother, Thomas J. Heaney; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom brought so much joy to her life.
