Joseph A. MacArthur, formerly of Wilmington, DE, age 79, died at home in Glen Mills, PA on Monday, August 7, 2023. Joe was a graduate of Villanova University ’66 ’69. He worked in Chemical/Environmental Engineering at International Hydronics in Princeton, NJ and ICI/Astra Zeneca in Wilmington, DE.
Joe was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Church since 1977. In addition to family time, Joe enjoyed investing, genealogy, sailing on the Chesapeake Bay, and traveling to Europe and U.S. National Parks, especially Venice and Yellowstone.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara B. MacArthur; children, Geoffrey W. MacArthur of Lewisburg, PA and Kristen M. Palmer (Justin) of Wilmington, DE; and 5 grandchildren, Lizzie, Matt, James, Atticus and Annabel.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 from 5 – 7 pm, and again on Thursday, August 10 at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 7 Sharpley Rd., Wilmington, DE 19803 beginning at 10 am.
The eulogy will be shared at 10:50 am on Thursday in church followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am.
Interment will follow Mass at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery, 10 Old Church Rd., Wilmington, DE 19807.
